Short Summary:
The Technical Systems Administrator is part of the System Operations Team responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of our IT infrastructure and software environments. The role involves managing both cloud-based and on-premises environments, performing system maintenance, deploying software and OS updates, problem analysis and troubleshooting, and monitoring to optimise performance. There is also a significant emphasis on documentation most notably the development and maintenance of operational procedures.
The Technical Systems Administrator must be able to work under pressure in a complex environment, have strong written and verbal skills, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide out-of-hours rostered on-call support when required.

What about the role:
- Monitor and maintain both cloud and on-premises infrastructure to support internal and customer application deployments.
- Facilitate the deployment of services on public cloud platforms and virtualized hardware infrastructure.
- Oversee virtual platform upgrades, maintenance, system administration, workflow development, and the creation and decommissioning of VMs and all other work in the environment.
- Support the evaluation, installation, configuration, testing, maintenance, and administration of new and upgraded software applications.
- Conduct problem analysis and troubleshoot application issues to ensure swift resolution.
- Manage and resolve operational problems and incident tickets effectively.
- Document operational procedures and best practices to enhance knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Proactive use of system monitoring, metrics, and alerting systems to maintain application and systems health.
- Communicate and engage with internal teams and customer stakeholders to foster collaboration and transparency.
- Maintain application security by managing user access and access policies, and conduct audits as needed.
- Out of hours rostered on call customer support as required.
What experience do I need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is desirable.
- Extensive experience in cloud platform services and administration, with a preference for AWS is desirable.
- Experience working within an Infrastructure/Cloud Operations team is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of supporting Red Hat Linux infrastructure.
- Familiarity with VMware and vSphere.
- Knowledge of networking and infrastructure practices.
- Knowledge of cloud architecture, engineering and best practice deployment
- Experience with healthcare products is an advantage.
- Understanding of containerization and continuous integration (CI) tools is desirable.
- Familiarity with automation scripting technologies and best practices.
