Free data-driven dashboard gives dermatologists more time to spend with patients

Leading health tech company Magentus is pioneering a new era in dermatology patient care with the launch of a data-driven tool designed to help dermatologists improve outcomes for psoriasis patients.

With the support of biotechnology company Amgen Australia, Magentus has developed an AI-powered dashboard that can analyse thousands of records in seconds, identifying psoriasis patients who may benefit from a review by their dermatologist.

Magentus and Amgen Australia share a mutual goal of helping practitioners deliver optimal care for patients with psoriasis, a potentially debilitating disease affecting between 2.3% and 6.6% Australians (Parisi R, et al. J Investigative Dermatology, 2013; 133:377-385).

The Psoriasis Patient Dashboard securely processes vast amounts of data in a practice’s medical software system, including dictated letters and free text notes, generating and exporting detailed patient lists by severity and treatment type for action by the dermatologist’s practice.

Manually creating a similar report would typically take hundreds of hours, time that can now be saved.

Available through Magentus specialist practice management product Genie and informed by the recently updated Australian consensus on treatment goals for moderate to severe psoriasis (Poley P, et al. Australas J Dermatol 2023;64:476–487), the tool assists in improving overall clinic efficiencies. It has been shown to save dermatologists significant hours in identifying psoriasis patients who might benefit from a treatment review.

Nearly 200 dermatology practices using Genie can easily activate the dashboard to quickly and securely access these actionable insights, at no cost.

By combining Magentus’s expertise in practice management with Propel Health AI’s innovative platform for processing real world data, powered by Google Cloud’s scalable infrastructure, the dashboard illustrates the potential of large language models (LLMs) to explore safe, responsible, and meaningful ways to use this technology.

Stuart Behncken, Magentus Head of Data Management Services, said:

“We know that reviewing and monitoring patients at scale can be time-consuming. As Australia’s market leader of software for specialists, we are well-positioned to work with partners like Amgen Australia to drive innovation that accelerates moves towards a more data-led healthcare future. This dashboard is a real-world example of what can happen when health data is utilised effectively and efficiently, giving care providers the information they need for faster, safer patient treatment. Excitingly, it is also just the first in a suite of secure AI and data enabled tools for specialists that will continue to grow in scope and capabilities.”

Gabi Mittas, Associate Vice President & Managing Director, Amgen Australia and New Zealand said:

“As one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies, Amgen harnesses the best of biology and technology to fight the world’s toughest diseases, and make people’s lives easier, fuller and longer. Globally, we are investing in the power of artificial intelligence (AI), data science and other technologies to help bring value to patients and we are excited by the potential of this local partnership with Magentus.  We believe the new dashboard will help dermatologists harvest meaningful insights from their patient records and enable them to enhance patient care in an efficient and effective way.”
