The South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) will bring all vital information about cancer patient care into a single digital record after signing on to implement the Charm Evolution® oncology information management system by Magentus.
The Western Australian health care service will introduce Charm Evolution® as the centralised oncology patient record to help improve clinical safety, collaboration and continuity of care, providing seamless upstream and downstream interoperability with a range of other key systems.
The system will provide more accurate patient data and instant access to real-time information and standard protocols across cancer teams, clinical services and sites, enabling remote access at any time from any location.
SMHS delivers hospital and community-based public health care services to nearly a quarter of Western Australia’s population across southern metropolitan Perth, including Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) and Rockingham General Hospital (RGH).
Fiona Stanley Hospital offers an extensive cancer centre service, including inpatient and outpatient medical oncology and haematology, apheresis, bone marrow transplant, and clinical trials.
Rockingham General Hospital has a chemotherapy unit that supports oncology patients requiring chemotherapy and blood management, as well as infusions for non-malignant chemotherapies.

“Our aim is to remove the reliance upon paper prescribing, moving to a fully electronic prescribing system that removes errors and is the single source of truth for a patient’s treatment, improving patient safety.
